
International Association for Orofacial Pain (IAOFP)
The International Association for Orofacial Pain (IAOFP) is a non-profit organization of health care professionals sharing experiences and advancing knowledge in the field of orofacial pain to enhance the quality of patient care. The IAOFP primarily aims to advance the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of orofacial pain through education, research, and professional collaboration.
The IAOFP aims to link and support the activities promoted by the various national and continental orofacial pain academies and their members, who are invited to join the IAOFP network. The IAOFP seeks to involve both orofacial pain expert and non expert associations consisting of other dental and medical specialist disciplines. The aim being to raise the knowledge and overall standard of care in this rapidly developing discipline.
Specifically, the organization aims to:
– Distribute available research findings into the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of the various orofacial pain conditions.
– Provide educational programs, workshops, and conferences to disseminate knowledge and best practices among healthcare professionals.
– Prepare and present material (i.e., position papers, key points, lectures) to facilitate the widespread dissemination of up to date scientific information to the many different types of health care professionals..
– Foster collaboration among professionals, including dentists, physicians, researchers, and educators, to enhance the quality of patient care in orofacial pain management.
The IAOFP founders believe the time has arrived to increase awareness of the discipline of orofacial pain within the various dental and medical communities.
